Practice Award Program
The Practice Awards Program year is broken into two sessions, fall and spring.
Practice Awards for students meeting the conditions of the program are presented twice per year.
Each student is given an amount of time they are expected to practice each week, by performance . The practice times for the various groups are:
• 30 Minutes per week for Recorder
• 75 Minutes per week for Beginning Band for the first semester (then increases in 150min. in the Spring Semester)
• 150 Minutes per week for all other groups
Practice minutes are counted when a student:
• Practices their own band exercises assigned by the music director,
• Study music theory - in private lessons or self-paced instruction,
• Attend college or professional level concert, or
• Take private lessons on your band instrument.
Each student is asked to write in the amount of minutes they practiced at home on a "Practice Minute Sheet." It is found on a clip board as you enter your class. If one is absent a week, please make sure and write in your minutes for the week you where absent. **Minutes are collected at the end of class 1 week prior to the concert. Then totals are turned in and Awards are purchased!
Awards are presented to the students who've met the conditions and the student 's name is acknowledged in the Concert Program.
